Rustic State Catalogue

A production partnership running since 2018. Over that time we have delivered more than 2,000 images for Rustic State, covering their Amazon and Etsy listings as well as the brand’s own store.

The range is cast iron homeware, and very little of it sells on the object alone. A wrought hook, a towel bar, a pulley sconce or a cigar ashtray all read as small and unremarkable against a white background. What sells them is the room they belong to, so most of this work is scene-building: reclaimed board walls and a mudroom bench for the coat hooks, white subway tile and hanging copper for the kitchen rail, a shiplap living room lit by the sconces themselves, a leather armchair and a cut cigar for the ashtray. Where the product is the reason someone is decorating the room at all, the set goes further, as with the record ledges and the listening room built around them.

Everything is delivered square. Amazon and Etsy both present at 1:1, and composing for that ratio from the outset rather than cropping a wide frame down to it is the difference between a product that sits confidently in the frame and one that has been trimmed to fit. Each SKU gets several scene variants so the listing opens as a gallery rather than a single angle, and the sets are built to be reused, which is what keeps a catalogue this size affordable to extend year after year.
